After what we had been staying in, this park was like the Hilton. Granted, it doesn't have any amenities, but it's nice. The camp hosts were most helpful. We were working in the area and it appeared that several of the other RV'ers were doing the same. It felt safe and secure and we had no qualms about being gone from the RV. The sites are set on grass and it rained a lot, but we didn't have any problems.
If you like hiking in a beautiful atmosphere, this is the place to camp. You have to drive up a mountain to get there, but the views are spectacular. The campsite itself is heavily wooded, but we had no problem getting TV; not so good with the phone and internet. We actually had sewer at our site, which is unusual for a state park. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely camp here again.
We were a little dubious about being so close to the freeway, but that was short-lived. Campground is very nice. The bathroom and showers were sparkling clean. There is a little house that has several pieces of exercise equipment with a TV. As other have mentioned, there is a fenced-in doggy area. The nature trail was nice also. It was a little pricey, but we had cable and pull-through and sewer at the site. That was worth it to me. The staff was very nice and we would definitely camp there again.
We were so sorry that we came in late afternoon and had to leave first thing in the morning. What a lovely park! You do have to go through some different areas to get there, but it's a gem. You might want to have a water regulator with you. We arrived after the office was closed, but the park ranger was so nice and made us feel at home. We would certainly return to this campground.
This state park is gorgeous! We camped on the banks of Lake Murray. The area is very wooded and natural. The park has two areas to camp - A and B. From a review we chose B and it's the better of the two in my opinion. The roads are paved and good for walking and/or bicycling. We will certainly do a return trip here.
This is a very lovely, out in the country RV park. It is gated and the owner (Kim) was extremely nice and helpful. We came in after dark and woke up to a great view of the lake. We walked the whole property, which is part full-time and part overnight camping. The full-time area is not your usual run-down permanent mobile homes; they are very nicely kept up. The property is pristine and there is every effort made to keep the area in its natural state. The office also contains a store where you can pick up limited food items.
